Back in early December, I went to the downstairs kitchen, spun myself a cotton candy cocoon, and dissolved my molecules into a delicious syrup. I've spent the last four months rearranging those same syrupy molecules, letting my hair go grey, developing recipes, singing songs, listening to books, and becoming a better, prettier version of myself. I'm very happy to emerge in my new form into warm weather and the beautiful embrace of the incredible people who support me, the shop, and all of the magical souls who work here.
This April, we are using resurrection as our inspiration. Resurrection comes in many forms and we've covered a few of them here. More inspiration will come in the way of food specials as the month goes on. But for now enjoy these
Elixirs:
-- Samsara: an incredible Coconut Cardamom Latte. You'll die and be born again with each sip. --
Ostara: honor the return of light with this Carrot Cake Latte, drizzled with a cream cheese syrup. The bunnies are already lining up.
-- Osiris: a Pistachio Orange Blossom Latte. The lightly floral tones of orange blossom play beautifully with the earthy pistachio. The afterlife never tasted so good.
-- Orpheus: a Toasted Almond and Honey Shaken Espresso. Your disembodied head will wash up on shore singing a happy song.
-- Quetzalcoatl: a Jalapeño Lime Dirty Soda. This snake has a bite.
-- Jesus Wept: a Bloody Lazarus. This classic Bloody Mary comes with a tiny Grilled Cheezus, a bleu cheese stuffed olive, a cocktail onion, and a stuffed grape leaf, all crucified onto a skewer.
-- Sean of the Dead: a zombie fizz. Inspired by the cocktail, this rum and grapefruit fizz is a perfect wake-up for you non-coffee-drinkers.
and for food:
-- Ragnarök: Endtimes Bagel Special - smoked dill cream cheese with sliced house-pickled cucumber and seedy mustard.
-- Alphonse Elric: Winry's Apple Pie Bagel Special - vanilla cream cheese topped with apple pie filling, streusel, and drizzled with spiced boiled cider. Cry, all you nerds.
